NSCDC arrests 4 men for raping 13-year-old girl in Borno

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Borno Command, on Thursday, said it had arrested four men for allegedly raping a 13- year-old girl in Maiduguri.
The Commandant of the corps, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed this to Journalists in Maiduguri.
Abdullahi, who named the suspects simply as Rawana, Adam, Muhammad and Ibrahim, said they were arrested by good Samaritans at Gwange area of Maiduguri on Sept. 7.
He said that the suspects allegedly enticed the girl with a token and lured her into a room where they defiled her.
“A member of the victim’s family caught the randy men in the act and alerted residents of the area who arrested them.
“Preliminary investigations showed that the prime suspect lured the
girl into a room and had canal knowledge of her after giving her N50.
“The suspects had sex with the girl one after the other.
“Medical examinations on the girl indicated severe penetration with no
implications,” he said.
He said that the command would transfer the case on completion of all preliminary investigations to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for prosecution.
The commandant, who expressed dismay over the spate of rape cases in the state, called for behavioural change on the part of victims’ families to seek redress.
“Victim’s families must be bold to seek redress in order to get rid of the menace,” he said.
According to him, the command has recorded four rape cases in the past four weeks in the state.
Abdullahi called on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), faith-based organisations (FBOs) and community leaders to sensitise the people to the need to seek redress, to check the rising cases of rape in the society.

I raped 7-year-old boy - Cobbler confesses

A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Wednesday, remanded a cobbler, Tahiru Abdullahi, 55, in prison for allegedly engaging in homosexuality with a boy.

When the charge of committing an unnatural offence was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Muazu Abdullahi, had told court that one Abubakar Mohammed of Galadima Area in Kontagora, Niger reported the matter at a police station on August 6.

Abdullahi said that the complainant alleged that the defendant lured his 7-year-old son into his house and had sexual intercourse with him through his anus on two separate occasions.

He said the defendant confessed to committing the crime during police investigation.

Presiding Magistrate, Mariam Kings, declined to take the plea of the accused, saying that the court lacked jurisdiction to try the case.

Kings directed the police to forward the case file to the state’s director of public prosecutions for advice and adjourned to September 7.
