Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Alvaro Morata is ‘less of a goalscorer’ than Diego Costa but still expects Chelsea to challenge for the title next season.
Premier League Champions Chelsea capturing the 24-year-old star Real Madrid making him the club most expensive signing which makes him their fourth summer signing so far as Antonio Conte moved to add some more firepower to his squad at Stamford Bridge.
With Italian coach has already informed the stubborn star Costa that he will not be part of Chelsea’s plans for the upcoming season and the striker is currently searching for a new home with AC Milan and Atletico Madrid both interested in services.
Wenger has praised Blues new signings with the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco but believes Antonio Conte’s attack may now have a different edge following Morata’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
According to Metro ‘They look like they have kept the basis of the squad,’ Wenger said of Chelsea.
‘They have added Bakayoko who is a very strong player. Similar to [Nemanja] Matic but more of an impact player.
“They have replaced Costa with Morata – may be less of a goalscorer than Costa but he can create more.”
‘I expect them to fight for the title.’
FA Cup winner Arsenal will take on Premier League Champions Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.
