ORGANISED labour in
Bayelsa State has called for
patience on the part of civil
servants, as it strives to
improve on their welfare.
State Chairman of the
Nigerian Labour Congress,
NLC, Comrade John
Bipre Ndiomu and his
counterpart at the Trade
Union Congress TUC,
Comrade Tari Dounana,
made the call at an audience
participatory programme
at Radio Bayelsa, Yenagoa.
The NLC chairman
admitted that a lot more
still needs to be done, but
assured that as leaders,
they are working round
the clock to ensure that
workers get what is due to
them.
On the issue of the
implementation of
promotion benefits, he
averred that it will soon
be an issue of the past, as
they are still engaging with
government.
Ndiomu urged workers to
have faith in the leadership
of labour unions, noting
that without their support,
nothing meaningful will be
achieved.
Also speaking, the TUC
chairman said the wellbeing
of workers remains a top
priority for labour leaders
in the state.
On the issue of the
payment of primary school
teachers and deductions
from pensioners, he
remarked that labour
unions are on top of the
situation, stressing that a
pronouncement will be
made soon.
He also pleaded
with workers to have
confidence on the labour
leaders to enhance good
performance.
