4-year old boy stolen in Kaduna

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy
has been reportedly stolen
in Bayan Dutse area of
Narayi in Chukun Local
Government Area of Kaduna
State, causing stirs.
The boy was allegedly
stolen by a stranger after
deceiving him with biscuits
on Saturday, September 2,
2017.
Eyewitness said the man
in his mid-40s had gathered
the boy and three others
together, and asked them to
follow him as he volunteered
to buy them biscuits to
celebrate Sallah holiday.
The mother of the boy, who
pleaded anonymity, said
she was inside the house
when the incident occurred,
saying her attention was
drawn when she heard her
neighbour asking the other children of her son.
“It was when my
neighbour asked her child
after my son that I knew
someone had taking them
out. They said the man
asked them to go, and that
he’ll bring my son home
himself. We have since
reported the incident to
the police and the security
outfit in our community.
“Even our mai angwan is
also aware; my husband is
in training. What am I going
to do now,” she lamented.
When visited, the police
the information officer who
confirmed incident told
journalists that they were
doing everything possible
to get the man arrested
and the boy returned to his
mother.
A resident of the area,
Mr. Hillary Gambo blamed
the boy’s mother for her
negligence and probably
the parents’ inability to
cater for their children.
“Some of these mothers
are careless. How come
it was her neighbour that
reminded her of her son’s
whereabouts,” he queried.
On part of Mr. Ejiofor
John, a trader, he attributed
the incident to insecurity
and what he described as
“I don’t care” attitude of
residents of the area.
“There’s no security in
the area and the people
are lackadaisical in
approaching the issue. I
am not saying be hostile to
strangers but be vigilant,”
he advised.
It would be recalled that
a three-year-old girl was
stolen and later recovered
by security operatives in
August last year in the same
area.
