Barcelona’s La Liga tie against LasPalmas will go ahead behind closed doors despite earlier reports that it has reportedly been postponed due to a riot that erupted in the city.According to dailymail, riot police had been deployed around Catalonia on the day of the region’s controversial independence referendum, with tempers fraying in Barcelona.
The report also stated that RAC1 claim Barcelona asked for the game to be cancelled, and they could be slapped with a six-point deduction from La Liga.
Officers had however fired rubber bullets at protesters demonstrating against their votes being taken away, and the decision has reportedly been made to cancel the match at the Nou Camp.
Las Palmas, Barcelona’s opponents on Sunday, had planned to wear special kits with the Spain flag embroidered on in protest at the referendum vote.
