Osun ready for LG poll

ALL is now set by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has it has concluded to hold the long awaited local government election on 27th of January 2018 This was arrived at a consultative meeting of the commission and heads of political parties in Osun state, with journalists in attendance. The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Segun Oladitan while speaking recalls that the last time local government election was conducted in the state was 2007. Oladitan, said the polls would hold after 10 years local government elections were conducted in the state but he said legal encumbrances had prevented the commission from conducting the election since 2013.
Oladitan, while assuring that the election would be free, fair, crisis free and credible stated that elections would be conducted in all the local government council, local council development areas and the area offices recently created by the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in the state. According to the OSSIEC boss, “the state would use the parliamentary system in electing politicians into the councils while chairmanship elections would not be conducted but councillors would be elected and the chairmen would be elected among the elected councillors”. Oladitan however, enjoined the politicians to comply with the guidelines which is about to be released by the OSSIEC and shun campaign of calumny
